(just seen X's post) Er, right.

Color scheme? The little red trails? Or the first title thingy? Frankly that one's too... simple. It was a five min. deal. I was thinking the header STARTS the scheme. Like if I started with the blue lightning one, then blue borders/backgrounds and wahtnot would pervade everywhere else. That's what I intended anyway- to pick a scheme to follow with.

All that to simply decide which character to use... I can't wait to see your sign-up.

^_^
I write a LOT. Oftentimes to the point of rambling.

Hmm, I've been thinking overnight; maybe I shouldn't use a character from any of my stories here. Maybe I should kinda take the best (or, most original and interesting) aspects of a bunch of my characters, and put them into a brand new character designed specifically for use in online roleplaying. But I'll probably just end up tweaking Kaggra. Now, onto reading this topic...

Okay, I just finished reading through this whole topic (though admittedly I skimmed a few of the signups, but I read the rules in full). I just want to ask this so I'm 100% clear; if my character battles another character, and my character loses, but my posts were of higher quality, better realism and generally were greater than his, would I "win" (stars) even though my character was defeated?

That question aside, I'm now going to go grab a bite to eat, then go to the Ultimate Risk board and read through a buncha the topics, to get a greater feel for what the IG is all about before I join. I'm also gonna read the archives on the website. Today is Saturday the twelvfth, I expect to be ready to post my signup by the nineteenth.

I have to say, though, my signup is going to be massive. Since I'm pulling a character from a story of mine that has it's own entire world, it's not enough to explain in a signup form. I'm thinking about creating a TOPIC for my signup sheet when the time comes. I'm going to go heavily into the backstory and will most likely break that seventeen post record that was mentioned. What do you think? Should I make a topic solely for my giant signup, or just post it in here?

'cause actually, before I became interested in the IG, I was thinking about making a topic for a short story based upon the Kaggra character of mine.

You may create an intro, but you wish to decline such, I'm sure I can scrap something together. Just state when and where and I'll be there.

IS your bio going to have chapters or something...

Well it's just that to understand a character as complex and established as Kaggra, you REALLY have to know his history, and I can't explain his history because well...in the stories I write, I've created an entire world with it's own peoples, customs, even languages. If I told you he walked on his knees for a full day, dressed in dark green, and put blue flowers outside his domicile, you'd have no idea of the significance of that. I have to explain at least HIS part of the world, where he comes from, and how he got where he is now.

If your bio is unusually large, I'd recommend you skip posting it at all and email it directly to me. I'll try to get it up on the site ASAP so others can have a look at it.

Ohoh! That's the best idea. I'm currently writing it in a .doc file, should I just attach that to the email? It'll probably take me a good week to do a nice signup sheet.

Then again I've always liked quality over quantity, so we'll see.

Maybe, just maybe, you could get both. If I didn't go into Kaggra's backstory at all, I could easily fit his signup into two or three posts. I can describe him and his equipment well in a few short paragraphs, give a bit of a personality in a page. It's the backstory that's gonna take awhile.

Quick statistic for you; I've done a preliminary version of my signup sheet. I have everything except for descriptions of Kaggra's weapons, and I also have absolutely no backstory yet. The doccument is 18,981 characters long, and I expect the backstory alone to be triple that. Heh, also, this is just preliminary, it's not touched up or fancified yet, it's basic, not too pretty to read, so it'll increase even more in size. I really think it's good quality, too. Oh right, I don't have the combat situation written, either.

What is so meaty with what I have written so far is that Kaggra can, as I mentioned, change form, so besides describing HIM in detail, I had to go into all his FORMS in detail, not just physical detail, but how they are different from normalcy as well. Just to note, he has four forms other than his normal one. They each have advantages and disadvantages, and he cannot control when they occur (though he may slowly learn to control it as time passes in the IG). He'll probably transform maybe once a battle, if at all. I'd say for half his battles he doesn't transform, and the other half he transforms once or twice. Here's an example of what I have so far, it's the physical description of the former desert bandit Kaggra. This is a first copy, a rough copy and may change before the official, submitted character sheet.

To reiterate: do not accept this as part of my signup sheet, it's just for show.
I'll email you the doccument containing the full singup when I complete it, X.

Appearance: Standing at six feet and one inch, Kaggra is a dark-skinned desert person. His shallow eyes are a glimmering emerald color, like so many fields of grass. His shoulder-length hair is bright white, with no bangs in front, hanging messily behind his head like a whitewater river, cascading off the edge of a cliff. His cheekbones are low-set, giving him a mongrel appearance. His small nose and thin eyebrows speak of youthful exuberance. His lips are a bit large for a male, a bit feminine, plump and soft. Contrary to the conflicting features of commonness and delicacy, standing opposed to his almost shining jewel-colored eyes, there is a look of sorrow in his face. It is the look of a remorseful convicted murderer, ashamed to be alive yet still searching for something, for a reason to live or a way to cease. His ears look fairly human, but the shape of the folds within are different, with a more swirled and curving design accented by teardrop earlobes. Kaggras body is extremely well-defined, though not bulky and muscular. Lean and fit, with his muscles visible, sometimes only hinted at, but his physical strength immediately noticeable. His chest and abs are hard from many years of tough work, his back broad and tough. His feet and hands are calloused, worn strong from the difficult and strenuous life of the desert people. Like most people of the nomadic race that is so apparent in his features, Kaggra keeps his arms, legs, even underarms shaven free of hair. The blowing sand irritates hairy bodies; most of the people Kaggra grew up with even shaved their heads (men and women).
(continued)
From: Simba Jones | Posted: 6/13/2004 3:57:41 PM | Message Detail
His garb is extremely simple. On his feet he wears sandals, with long strips of reddish-brown leather about four feet long and four inches wide each wrapped around so as the top of his feet are not exposed to the biting sands. Covering his muscular legs is a pair of loose, white linen pants tied at the waist with a simple, brown leather belt with a dull, unshined brass buckle. It is kept dirty and left tarnished on purpose, for a reflective belt buckle would become hot to the touch in the desert sun. Hanging on the left side of the belt is a fist-sized pouch, and opposite to it on the right side is another pouch about five times as large. There are hooks, small hooks (four in all, in pairs that are equally placed apart) around the back side of the belt. When not using them, Kaggra places his claws on these hooks. They snap in place. In between the hooks, which themselves are made of hardened leather, is a loop of softer leather, tilted to the right. When not using it, Kaggra slides his staff into this loop and it stays in place there, diagonally from down and to his left to up and to his right, extending just barely taller than his head. Completely covering the belt and it’s contents is usually Kaggras Wind Ribbon (description below). It is wrapped around like a belt, yet curiously it doesn’t disturb the pouches or hooks on the leather belt. The only other clothing he wears is a vest made of the same loose, white linen material as his pants. The thin cloth vest doesn’t cover up much; the bottom only reaches to above his navel and it doesn’t even close or button together. It’s just left hanging open to blow in the wind. It’s purpose is not as clothing, but as more storage, for there are many hidden pockets on the underside of the vest. What he keeps in there is anyone’s guess. Lastly, intertwined in the sleeves of his vest is a strap of the same reddish leather that comprises his belt that stretched diagonally across his chest from his left shoulder to his right hip. It’s part of a sheath that hangs diagonally on his back in the same manner. The handle of his sword, Fenris, when in it’s sheath, extends to behind his left ear. Being a nomad, you’d think he’d carry more things (personal items, bedding, a backpack at least) but his philosophy is to work when he’s hungry, sleep when he’s tired and travel when he’s neither.
