A short teaser of what's to come. Kudos go to Drago for the original concept of this plot.

-~-

Silence filled the narrow halls leading up to the main chamber of ruffian palace. A cool breeze darted from window to window as silent footsteps left soft imprints in the carpet laid in perfect symmetry between the walls to either side. His pace was quick, nonetheless, as important news beckoned for the King's attention. The messenger arrived at the main gate to the chamber, a guard to either side.

"I need to see the King immediately!" he cried in a deep, nearly monotonous voice. The guard to his right chuckled under his breath before replying, "Do you have an appointment to see him?" Snorting, the messenger disregarded the two, bulkier men's presence and stormed through the palace doors. "Sir! I bring urgent news from Kotir!"

With a grunt, the older man removed himself from his throne and stroked his silver hair, "What? Kotir? Nothing ever happens there." Twirling his around himself to provide added warmth, he stepped down to meet his bowing messenger. "Tell me, young one, what happened?"

"Sire, it's been taken over."

"By who?"

"Those who are still alive claim it was an twin-bladed elf and an ice-wielding human." The messenger scanned the paper in his hand once then continued on, "They then stormed the castle. Something about an Intrepid Genesis..."

A cold sensation flowed through the King's body as the words "Intrepid Genesis" hung in his mind. "Come, boy, we have much work to do. Assemble everyone in active duty, and tell them to meet in the Grand Banquet Hall. We can't let them reclaim what we earned..."

Name: Jon Uchao

Age: 500 (Appears 22) – Jon’s clan is known for exceptionally long life. At average, a member will live to be over five thousand years old, but the eldest exceed ten thousand.

Gender: Male

Race: Enhanced Human

Appearance: Jon has an impressive appearance at 6’3”, weighing 220 lbs. His body is toned and extremely powerful from constant physical training. His hair is light blonde and fairly short, jutting down no further than the top of his ears. He has a face that is handsome and defined. Jon’s eyes are a very light blue, and have a spiritual glowing property to them. He prefers to wear loose fitting comfortable clothes, fit for fighting and for wearing casually. His usual attire is a comfortable white T-shirt and long, baggy pants. For someone being as old a warrior as he, the damage visible on his body is quite slim. Aside from the occasional little scar, he does have one outstanding physical feature. A large scar runs from the top of his right eyebrow, over his eye and down to the bottom of his chin, acquired obviously from combat.

Personality: Jon possesses a mystical friendliness that is unlike a person whose clan is involved in a bitter war. He likes people when he isn’t fighting them and he enjoys conversation, often trying to make friends. He has a great deal of pride and is fairly arrogant, and is known to be quite goofy around other people. Jon is a very opinionated person and will not hesitate to state what he thinks, against the majority or not. When in battle, he prefers to focus on his fighting, but when against someone who he is friendly with he will joke and make comments quite a bit. In a fight against an enemy, these things change.

Weaponry: Jon is able to use every kind of weapon imaginable, ranging from guns to large sticks. He will often have different weapons with him, depending on his mood. He does, however, have one that he has with him at all times. It is his prized Glaive, which sits in a sheath resting on his back under six feet in length. Though the weapon is massive, he is able to carry it around with almost no effort because of his intense training and massive strength. Jon has modified this so that instead of a regular blade, it has been enhanced. Years of focusing his energy into the giant blade of the sword (485 to be exact) have hardened the steel considerably to the point where it is nigh impossible to break. This also gives the sword a very subtle glowing property, barely perceivable unless one examines it closely. Other than that, there is nothing special about it and it is rather bland in appearance.

Generally, Jon will carry one or two tanto’s, which are small knives, to use as backup weapons as well as several finger-sized shuriken-like throwing knives.
From: The Rope | Posted: 6/11/2004 6:39:30 PM | Message Detail
Magical Capabilities: Jon cannot control any individual elements. He can’t fire energy waves or anything, but he can focus his internal energy, or ki, into an object. This works both ways for him, as concentrating it into a weapon, depending on how much, will either cause it to explode or “energize” it, increasing its ability to inflict damage. He can also transfer his energy into the bodies of other living things as well. If used in massive proportions, this can cause severe damage to internal organs as well as, in extreme cases, cause the victim to explode. He may only do this if he is touching the object he wishes to use this effect on.

Jon possesses eyes that are unique to his clan. They glow a slight tint of blue when Jon is calm, and when used they give off exceptionally bright light. The nerve connections to his eyes differ greatly from normal humans in that the nerves process information several times quicker. This allows Jon to effectively read his opponent without much trouble, even mirroring their movements. Another use for this in incredibly quick learning. This, combined with his natural long life, makes him extraordinarily knowledgeable as far as visual concepts go, such as combat.

Fighting Style: Jon is dominantly a hand-to-hand combatant; his fluency in several styles of Martial Arts being the main contributor. His fighting style isn’t defined, however, as his mastery of several styles and his ability to think quickly allow him a great degree of freedom and flexibility when engaged in combat. This is due to his extremely old age, which allowed him to develop fluency and mastery in these arts as well as obtaining a great amount of experience and wisdom. Being a master in these, his technique and coordination are nearly perfect.

Jon’s physical strength is exceedingly vast from his rigorous training, and he can quite easily smash solid stone with his hand. He is also, being a specialized hand-to-hand fighter, very fast, able to create “illusions” of himself and so forth. His entire body in itself is extraordinary. His bone strength surpasses the strongest humans, as well as combat experience and intelligence. His immune system is able to fight off almost any virus and bacteria known. His body also has minor regenerative properties, allowing him to look so young at such an old age and also regenerate severe damage over a long period of time. If the damage is severe enough, it is only able to heal it to the point of a scar. Jon cannot fly or teleport. He is also incapable of using any type of magic, which is another reason for his physical combat only approach.

While Jon is physically superior, his lack of any powerful magic limits him. Any mage that can keep Jon at distance long enough to effect him with spells can seriously harm him. He is especially prone to “dark” or “shadow” magic and psychic abilities in which he has little to no control over.
From: The Rope | Posted: 6/11/2004 6:39:59 PM | Message Detail
Physical Techniques: All his life, a warrior of the Uchao clan dreams of finding his inner peace, a discipline so absolute that it was thought to be an ascension into an angelic-like form, enabling the warrior to act on anticipation rather than reaction, giving him an almost precognitive ability to sense and dodge incoming attacks. While this does not increase the warrior’s attack power or abilities, it is complete focus on the target and proves quite formidable. He may only enter this state if his mind is absolutely clear of thought.

Likewise, a warrior of the Uchao clan can enter another state of consciousness, this one quite the opposite. The warrior explodes in a pure rage of raw physical power, not quite as focused and as precise as the former state, but the users physical power increases dramatically to the point of severely injuring himself. Every emotion is concentrated into powerful, if unwieldy, strength. If emotions rise above a certain point, Jon automatically enters this state, which is both an advantage and disadvantage.

In addition to these, Jon possesses countless other techniques learned from his years on the earth, each of which he employs masterfully.

Magical Techniques: Jon is incapable of using any sort of projectile magic attack or barrier, and is only able to use objects and his body for attack and defense. His body does have a heightened healing factor, but this alone takes time, and will not entirely heal the wound if it is mortal. Jon can concentrate his ki into the wound for quick healing, but this is very limited and Jon cannot completely close open wounds, but he can stop hemorrhaging and severe bleeding. Still, this requires for Jon to focus large amounts of ki into that part of the body for an extended period of time depending on the severity.

Background: Jon Uchao was born into war. His clan, the Uchao, are at war with another rival clan for so long each one could not explain why they hated each other, only that the clan was the “enemy”. Jon was raised under this influence, and possesses an unexplainable yet powerful hatred towards the opposing clan. Being born into war, Jon was taught how to kill at a very early age, and at the ripe age of eight-teen was sent to serve in the war effort as a foot soldier, and upon entering was given the weapon he would come to be known for. He accomplished at first menial tasks such as setting up booby traps and ambushes. With each success Jon rose in rank and strength, becoming known among opposing clans simply as “Glaive”, named after the massive sword he carried and wielded with frightening ability. At age sixty, Jon had his own small group of loyal warriors, about ten people who were all life friends and equally gifted combatants. For several more years Jon commanded this group, completing vital missions and becoming even more infamous among the enemy.

When Jon was one hundred, he led his group on a mission that would nearly kill him. As they silently approached the small village, Jon and his group was ambushed, attacked from behind by an elite squad of hunters. Jon was shocked to find that one of his own group had betrayed them, giving them away to the enemy. One by one they each fell, until Jon was the only one remaining. He had managed to slay s single hunter, as had his other friends, but they were overpowered and outnumbered. Jon then entered a certain berserker state of consciousness, as overcome with emotion as he was, and managed to defend himself for several more minutes before the faster and stronger warriors took him down. His own friend, the one who betrayed him, then took up his glaive and attempted to strike down Jon with it. Another battle ensued, Jon again entering the berserker like state. His friend severely injured Jon, giving him the distinctive scar that runs from his eye to his chin. He then threw down the glaive beside Jon, leaving him for dead. More members of the Uchao then came, chasing away the man and saving Jon. His other friends were dead before the team got there.

Jon healed quickly and continued to fight for his clan, though the loss of his friends affected him deeply. When Jon was two hundred, his village was attacked by an overwhelming force and thoroughly destroyed, injuring Jon and leaving him with no where to go. In that single day, everything he had held dear and loved was destroyed, his family, friends, and home. Jon was left to wander with only himself to keep company. He continued to hone his skills, as training his mind and body were the few things that could keep his mind off of his loss until recent day, where Jon seeks to rid himself of the loneliness of his wandering years and satiate his warrior

Combat Situation: You are walking through a ruined maze, you hear no voices, no people; everything is devoid of all life. You see a cloaked figure in the corner of your eye as the person disappears into a hole in the wall. You follow of course, for whatever reason you choose, but when you walk into the hole, you end in an empty, but horribly broken corridor. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the figure propels themselves at you, their cloak billowing out behind them as the air from the explosion rushes down the corridor, with the putrid smell of decay. Out from his hands come three daggers, as they are thrown one by one towards you, while he rushes in towards you with a fourth. His left foot crashes into yours as he sends the dagger in his hand careening towards your chest, his face full of decay and twisted into a sickening snarl. The rest is up to you, fill in the point where I mentioned, up until the end of your attack, but be careful not to control the character I described. He will serve as a real duelist, so we can measure how you duel.

Jon’s eyes calmly looked around, carefully surveying the dark, dank area. Every sense was on alert; his nose sniffed the air, his ears strained for any noise. In the corner of his eye, he spotted a strange cloaked figure walk through a hole. Jon silently follows, resting his right hand on the hilt of his massive, sheathed glaive over his shoulder. Jon’s eyes widened as the figure burst forth from nowhere, headed straight for him. His blue eyes glanced at the figures hands as three daggers emerged, soaring through the air for his chest. The corner of his mouth raised in a subtle, arrogant smirk. With a simple swipe of his hand Jon caught all three daggers in between his fingers and tossed them aside, preparing himself as his new found foe charged him head on. Both hands took on a faint, barely perceivable hue of blue. As the dagger approached his chest, Jon’s left hand shot up faster than the eye could see and caught the hand at the wrist, stopping it instantly. In a single, fluid motion Jon unsheathed his glaive. The familiar “shing” echoed throughout the maze as the bloodthirsty blade sheared through the air, aimed for and intent on cleaving the strange zombies head clean off.

Hola, hallo, buenos noches and diaz, hi, hello, how ya doin?

I've been surfing around the RP&FF board for awhile, but I just can't get any topics (duels or RPs) started, and when I join ones made by other people, they die quickly, as well. The idea of a group like the Intrepid Genesis has always intrigued me, but I was always intimidated by the sheer size of the topics. Over the next few days, I'm going to read this entire topic, word-for-word. I've skimmed through it over the past hour.

I've come to a problem, though. I have many characters in my repritoire because I'm a writer (hopefully one day, professional) and I draw from that. Thusly, I cannot possibly think to choose ONE out of the literal dozens. Right now I'm interested in a character called Kaggra, but my tastes change so often that two weeks from now, I could be interested in another character of mine. Maybe Vega, maybe Julias, maybe Arrius July, maybe Ghost or Deigan or Renza or Dane or Hillel, maybe Laro or Jameth or Bird. Depending on my mood, and what writings I'm working on at the moment, it greatly changes.

I'm thinking that if I have to choose ONE character, it would be Laro (pronounced luh-ROW). Why? He's the most flexible. In the story in which Laro comes from (keep in mind, should I choose to officially apply to join the IG, any of this may change), Laro is dead. The story follows him in the afterlife (which follows no actual theology). He is about eleven years old and looks like quite the bothersome little urchin, but has an honest curiosity about the world. Why I would choose him is because of the title of the story in which he is from. I swear to you that this is coincidence; the story I created that he is a part of is called Intrepid Angel. Okay okay, on to specifically why I'd choose him; he holds almost the greatest ability to change and adapt of any character I've ever created. Why? Wings periodically sprout from Laro's back, completely transforming him. It goes along with the story, and the wings sprout not at his discresion, but with emotion and situation. An example of some of the transformations.
Angel Wings: His most noncombatant transformation. Huge white angelic wings sprout from his back and his entire appearance is changed. No weapons; he never fights in this form.
Demon Wings: The least-activated transformation, and probably the most powerful and destructive. These sickly-looking, black colored wings are part of the gnarled transformation that takes place. He literally becomes possessed and has no control over his actions; he may attack his enemy, maybe his allies, maybe bystanders.
Stone Wing: Yes, a single stone wing sprouting from the right side of his back. It grants him no other physical transformation or aid, just this clumsy thing hanging off his back. In Intrepid Angel, he is cursed with the stone wing, and on comic cue, it usually appears (and subsequently pins him to the ground) as his relationship with his thirteen-year-old love interest is about to advance.
Eth Wings: They are not physical wings, but many streams of bluish energy that extend from his body in the shape of wings. He becomes very nostalgic and melencholy in this form, his eyes glowing, his facial expression nonexistant. There is no known purpose of this transformation, but his presense becomes very...noticable when he is like this.
Okay okay, this isn't a friggin signup, I'll stop there. There's almost a dozen different types of wings that have come up during the progress of the story I'm writing so far, I can't mention them ALL right now.

Man, I really wanna sign up with Kaggra right now. He's a very interesting character to me. He was a desert bandit, a totally ruthless theif. One day, he and his division of the worldwide Spider guild set off to raid an abandoned temple. Kaggra got greedy, and killed his comrades in blind ambition. After this act, an entity appeared to Kaggra, claiming itself to be a goddess, and banished him into a dimension which is timeless and ageless. For what must have been years he brooded, but eventually got tired of being angry and agreed to reformation. The goddess used her power to change his appearance. He had filed his teeth into fangs, his fingernails into claws, fashioned his dark, black hair to intimidate, wore the garb of a bandit and had a menacing sparkle in his eye. She removed all that and put him in simple peasants linens. Agreeing to change his ways wasn't enough, so the goddess released Kaggra back to his home and set a task to him. After completing it and become quite the accomplished fighter along the way, he was betrayed by this entity, who was not a goddess at all. She had promised to bring his friends back from death, but of course such is not actually possible. Feeling terrible remorse for his friends and anger for this false goddess, Kaggra (whom all along the way in this journey learned to control his transformations which I forgot to mention, see, he's of mixed races and transforms between forms randomly, but he learned to control it) reverted to his true form. He was of a race known as sekian. Clad in Sekian Armor, wielding an incredibly powerful spearlike weapon known as The Wind, he vanquished the false goddess and returned home. That was one-hundred and twenty years ago. He is ageless in his newfound sekian form, but oddly enough, his mastery of his weapon and armor have faded over time. When he destroyed the "goddess" he was amazing and spectacular. His eyes shined like stars, his long hair rolled like waves atop the sea, and he dessimated his enemy with such grace that it looked like some sort of dance as opposed to a battle. After that fight, however, everything changed. He can no longer bring about energy in The Wind, his armor no longer glistens and is no longer impervious to attack, and his eyes no longer sparkle. He does not understand what has happened, his memory is intact yet he feels as if he's never used The Wind before everytime he picks it up.

Yes, I would probably want to use Kaggra. He has a lot of aptitude for roleplay; telling the tales of his journey, (re)learning to wield The Wind, (re)activating his armor, though don't worry, I'd never make him become godly again unless I were to retire him from the IG.

Pff, forget it, nevermind my little rant here. I'm going to read the topic over the next few days then apply Kaggra as a character.

A challenge? You could take it as such if you really wanted to. But, like I said, I don't know if you'd get too far.

I never claimed that I'd get far, and the challenge thing was more sarcastic than anything, though it would be an exciting event to square off with you someday.

Oh, and Jalan - sorry, but I'm gonna have to put that duel on a halt. I don't know how much longer I want to keep my character.

(slaps forehead)

Okay, UO, fine. Anyone else? Semi-easy win. Little/no magic and whatnot and no super special uber killing techniques.

1. Are those D&D characters in the background?

2. I like this one the most! ^_^

3. Bland, to… formal…

4. Not bad, but make the name catch the readers attention more than what is in the background.

5. Pretty much same as four…

6. What the hell…
