«3.1 Name»

Dyron "Adder" Slisn

«3.2 Age»

32

«3.3 Gender»

Male

«3.4 Race»

Human

«3.5 Appearance»

Dyron has a muscular body, vigorously trained from years of sword-fighting. He has medium black hair which tops his thin face. A short scar runs down from the side of his right eye, slanting diagonally across the cheek. The scar is a constant reminder that Dyron has once been beaten, and drives his will to be the best, to finish first over everyone. The warrior is approximately 6'0'' tall. Dyron is not unusually heavy; nor is he a light combat fighter trained to such hardships as fighting in the desert.

A pair of green sunglasses shields Dyron's eyes from most onlookers. Dyron usually wears a blue coat with golden buttons. He leaves the coat unbuttoned, revealing his black shirt. Dyron also leaves the collar up, as if to hide his mouth. A sheath, holding his unique blade Toxic, is found at his left side. Dyron wears dark black pants which allow him to move easily, and they fall down to his brown boots. The boots are generally used for running or walking, not hiking through treacherous territory such as icy cliffs or cavernous mountains.

«3.6 Personality»

Being the traveller and wanderer that he is, Dyron has long surpassed the want for looks or intelligence. After all, he believes that a strong sword arm is the best out of the three that one could have. He also no longer cares for mostly anything; Dyron believes life is mostly just something to keep you preoccupied until eternal death. The same holds true in his belief of good and evil. Dyron does not want to live a life of eternal pain by siding with evil, but neither does he want to become a undead zealot forced to fight forever and do a god's silly biddings. When confronted with a fight, Dyron usually accepts with quiet patience, though his mind often wonders to the true motives behind his opposer(s)'s actions. Dyron is a loner, as he has been alone almost all of his life. He'd rather not talk then talk, and rather not have friends then have a possibility of betrayal. He keeps his contacts distant - Dyron doesn't want a knife in his back at a crucial point. Dyron has studied most powerful rulers, and knows that senators and "friends" are most sources of their downfalls. Dyron also talks little. When asked a question, or has no choice in the need to say something, he tries to use as little words as possible. However, when confronted with something that the sword-fighter cares deeply about, he does not hold back.

«3.7 Weaponry»

«3.71 Weaponry»

The only weapon that Dyron possesses is his blade Toxic. This resembles most a katana with a slightly more curved blade. The hilt is decorated to resemble a snake (hence the nickname "Adder"), is paved in valuable gold, and was specially fitted for Dyron's hands only. The blade color is a pale ice-blue, and the curve itself it smooth of all edges, yet still possible to maintain the sharpness that a sword needs.

The sword was exchanged to Dyron for a hefty sack of gold that forced the crafter into early retirement. However, the actual forging of the power behind the steel had it's effects on the forgeman, and eventually he lost his life to a strange, incurable poison.

«3.72 Magical Capabilities»

Toxic, as it's name implies, is highly poisonous. However, the toxin is not entirely natural, but more of a magic imbued into the weapon at it's forging. The "halfmage" Grolock, never to find fame except in the imaginations of his many sons and daughters, blessed this weapon with the powers of the viper. Now, at the will of it's master - currently Dyron - the eyes on the snake erupt in an emerald green, and add the magical (and lethal) poison to the blade.

«3.73 Fighting Style/ Class»

Dyron fights with no armor or shield, and generally nothing that impedes his movement or speed. He switches between a two-handed style and unique one-handed fighting to keep his opponent's on their toes, so they never have the time to learn much. Dyron uses balance and mobility to dodge attacks, though his body can take a few hits before falling. Dyron also strikes for critical points in his enemy - once he finds their weakness, he exploits it. Dyron required no formal training of any sort to pick these techniques up; when he was young, he found a way he wanted to fight, and stuck to it. His skill and ability in the style has earned him a few admirers, but other than the occasional fanatic, no one really wants to learn from his experience.

«3.8 Physical/Magical Techniques»

«3.81 Physical Techniques»

Sidewinder - Dyron goes into a "cool rage", and draws his weapon. He runs for his opponent, keeping on the watch for random projectiles or anything else that could end his sprint anti-climatically. When Dyron reaches his opponent, his sword becomes a body part. Dyron can attack with brutal efficiency, and leaves no time for his enemy to regain their position. Blasting Toxic this way and that, he forces his fight to block every attack, lest they lose a critical body part. Dyron also forces his opponent to step backwards with every swing.

Snakebite - Dyron has above-average speed, often striking quicker and faster than his peers.

Viper's Tongue - Dyron is naturally immune to poison.

«3.82 Magical Techniques»

Slideslip - Once or twice a day, Dyron can become a "ghost" for a short amount of time. However, he does not float, can not speak with the dead, and is still visible - albeit "whiter". On will, Dyron can return to his normal state.

«3.9 Background»

Dyron was born to fight. His mother was a prominent member of society, and was in the upper edges of the Kotir hierarchy. A lower noble, but a noble nonetheless. Dyron's father, however, was more or less a ragtag Ruffian with no job options left. A good sword arm, nothing more. They met in a closed-off garden surrounding the Ruffian's quarters, and in one night of passion, spawned the seed that was to become Dyron. Dyron's father was spurned and cursed by whoever knew about the baby and the true father - hardly no one, except his mother's head servant, Tnepres. When the time came, and Dyron was born, Dyron's mother threw Dyron upon Tnepres, and took her own life with a poisoned dagger. The cause was generally unknown, but rumors were that Tnepres was the baby's father, and had lost love in the woman.

No matter the rumors, Tnepres fled the city. More rumors were mentioning that the newly-formed Intrepid Genesis would kill any ties to nobility or the Ruffians. Tnepres went to a city on the other side of the world, Faajik, where he found work as a lowly swordsman trainer. He looked after Dyron like a son. As Dyron grew, he studied the footwork and tactics Tnepres used, and started to take an interest in swinging a sword.

When Dyron was 24, Tnepres started to listen to the ears that called for social reform in the city of Kotir. Expecting to find his old job and new wealth waiting for him, the former servant left Dyron at Faajik to take care of himself. Dyron worked the for a few years as a minor craftsman, but he longed to test his mettle in battle. He set out for the world when he was 26, training his sword arm one minor battle at a time. Over the years, Dyron's boots eventually led him back to Kotir's allure, where he was met with an unexpected surprise.

Just outside the city walls, Dyron was jumped by a group of thieves. He fought them off, massacring the party, until all but one remained. Dyron fought the burglar 'till a standstill, upon which the thief revealed himself and tossed off his gang mask. Tnepres. Dyron was amazed by this, and drew down his sword. Tnepres mentioned the boy had grown in the ways of war, but there was still things to be taught. Tnepres took Dyron back to the gang's headquarters - the base of the Poison Fangs. Tnepres told Dyron what had happened to him, and the warrior took it in one step at a time without a word. The former servant had been subjected to the same thing - a score of thieves had attacked without warning. They took Tnepres in to be trained, and the final result had been a very formidable fighter. Dyron was going to be taught the exact same thing, the exact same way.

For two years Dyron was trained in the ways of thieves, and became knowledgeable in the use of poisons. He favored the idea so much, Dyron became known as "The Adder" throughout the Poison Fangs. He became the role model warrior for aspiring bandits. Which would be valuable in the battles to come. The rebels were starting a major uprising, and were about to stage major wars with the government of Kotir. The Poison Fangs had forged an alliance with the rebels, wanting to grab the valuables of royalty after the nobles had been slaughtered.

Before Dyron's second year of training was over, Tnepres started to talk to the young Adder about reliving the past, the honor of fighting for the dead, and leaving the Poison Fangs. Of course, forbidden as it was, Dyron had known the swordsman as a father. He warned Tnepres about the possibility of the guild finding out, and that Tnepres's life would be endangered. The ancient servant laughed at it, and told that he would die by nobles if he could. Dyron wished him good-bye and good luck, and left Tnepres to his escape from a life of thievery. His whereabouts were left unknown to Dyron, and he finished off his training with the guild.

When he was 29, Dyron had become an elite soldier and robber for the Poison Fangs, along with a dangerous ally for the Kotir rebels. His work was cut short, though, when a major battle happened between the nobility and the rebels. Dyron arrived at the battle, his sword-arm ready to kill off any and all knights, when he glanced at a remarkable fighter brandishing his blade and mowing down the rebels. Regardless, when Dyron engaged the knight, a light from nowhere shone down upon the massacre, and Dyron was able to see the knights movement, his swordsmanship. Tnepres. The fellow never ceased to amaze; he had managed to regain his dignity for standing up for Dyron's mother. However, before Dyron was able to talk to his former "father", the rebel leader rammed his sword through Tnepres's chest. Dyron gasped and tried to kill the leader on sight, but he was gone into the midst of battle, to do battle with another knight. A nearby rebel laughed at Tnepres's fate, and screamed a war cry.

It was cut dead short by the Adder's fateful strike to the rebel's heart.

Dyron wandered away from the battle, too tired to make war. The next day, he left Kotir, and wandered the lands for the next three years managing his income on robbing highway travelers. During this time, Toxic was created, and became Dyron's favorite blade. The few years after he had grabbed the sword for the first time was spent fighting useless battles for politicians and greedy warlords.

When word reached Dyron of the Intrepid Genesis, he was rekindled with old memories of a child. Tnepres had always told him stories on the battles of the faction, and now Dyron was interested.

Once again, the nation of Kotir manages to bring back the warrior known as the Adder.

K, I'M DONE

Right off, the detail is very good, though your character seems more like an exterminator then a dueler...

This is a tad far too overpowered. No move can truely FORCE a character to do anything...

Also, slide slip needs an actual expiration time setting...

My only other real problem with the character's vitals is the lethal nature of the poison. Obviously, a character such as my own (READ: No anatomy) won't be affected by your poison.... But there should be details as to what the poison does, what cures it (if any cure at all) and if the wound needs to be oh so deep to actually inflict the poison...

I'll have another comment up soon about your bio, once I read it ^.^;;;

YOur bio is fairly point form, but covers almost all the bases. The only thing left unclear to me is how you came across the sword to pay for it (IE: Magic, incurable poisoned swords are often fairly hush hush as far as I would undertsand), but thats a minor detail.

I move for you to be accepted as a Greenhorn, though I think X or IFV would be better off giving you your begining star count (I would assume 10 or 15).

A few things -

I appreciate the constructive criticism. I never meant to word the description for Sidewinder like that. On Sideslip, I forgot about a few stuff I was thinking of. What should have been added is that he cannot attack during the state and cannot be attacked, and Sideslip only lasts a few moments - one or two attacks, usually. If they're short.

The poison description I'll work on tonight. If you need it, I'll post it (and if not, I'll probably post it anyways ^_^). When I do that, I'll post how I came upon the sword, and the gold/gil/wads of cash my char needed to come across it.

Sig test. Hope this isn't being too hasty. Stars in quote.

(Hope this helps)

- Continued from 3.72 Magical Capabilities of Weaponry -

The actual poison of the blade invokes a mysterious disease in the victim almost as soon as Toxic meets any part of the flesh. Bacteria starts to spread along the infected parts, trouncing almost all of the victim's white blood cells and immune system(s). Damage usually is administered to the Adder's opponent once every few minutes, but it can occur faster and faster, depending on the target's immune system and where the blade struck on the body.

No known cure or antibiotic has been found for the poison. Chemists and physicians have gone mad trying to place a name on the virus, but they only see it maybe once or twice in their lives. If the patient is rich or upper-middle class, usually a healer can be issued for the sickness, but if the infected person(s) is poor, they are generally left to die.

- Edited from 3.81 Physical Techniques (Sidewinder) -

Sidewinder - Dyron slips into a "cool rage", and draws his weapon. He runs for his opponent, keeping on the watch for random projectiles or anything else that could end his sprint anti-climatically. When Dyron reaches his opponent, his sword becomes a body part. Dyron can attack with brutal efficiency, and fights so gracefully it is amazing if his enemy can regain their footing and position. Blasting Toxic this way and that, in a whirlwind of the sword and his body, Dyron tries to invoke his fight to block as much as they can, as fast as they can. During the flurry of the onslaught, The Adder advances as much as possible without losing momentum.

- Edited from 3.82 Magical Techniques (Slideslip) -

Slideslip - Once or twice a day, Dyron can become a "ghost" for a short amount of time. However, he does not float, can not speak with the dead, and is still visible - albeit "a whiter shade of himself". The Adder cannot attack, nor can he be attacked, by magical or physical means. Slideslip ends in a couple of minutes. Dyron can also return to his normal state on will, as well.
From: Poison Ablaze | Posted: 5/30/2004 4:11:24 AM | Message Detail
- Added into 3.9 background between "It was cut dead short by the Adder's fateful strike to the rebel's heart." to "When word reached Dyron of the Intrepid Genesis, he was rekindled with old memories of a child." -

Dyron wandered away from the battle, too tired to make war. The next day, he left Kotir, and wandered the lands for the next three years managing his income on robbing highway travelers and arrogant thieves. His gold soon accumulated to that of a higher noble, perhaps equalling that of a king. Perhaps because Dyron did not spend as a common burglar spent - he kept his allowance low, living as a lower-class farmer might. Also, he avoided capture for the most part by never staying in one place for any large period of time. Any longer and his victims might have requested a military presence, and the Adder desired no bloodshed on the hands of innocents for the time (his outlook on life has since changed). During these years, Toxic came into creation.

When Dyron had enough funds, he took interest in selecting a unique weapon of war. He travelled to yet another city, this one named "Egrofeht" by its inhabitants. A city primarily centered on industrial profits, and the lives of everyone living in the god-forsaken pit were slowly dying off as the result of the toxic emissions stemming from the blacksmiths and factories coming into power. Dyron sought the best, and after a few days living off words and rumors, he found the man; a hardened smith named Kaddai Irloc. He had forged some of the weapons of legends, and Dyron had found the forger of his weapon of destruction. The Adder gave him instructions on the chemicals and such that he wanted inside the weapon, but the forgeman shook his head, claiming he needed a mage or warlock for this to work. The local choice was a measly magician from the name of Grolock, who only used his petty magiks for amazing the children of the disease-infested city. However, Grolock helped the two, and in the end, Toxic and it's incurable poison was born.
