«Name»
Auldren Neravé. He usually introduces himself as merely Auld.

«Age»
Twenty-eight.

«Gender»
Male.

«Race»
Human.

«Appearance»
Auldren Neravé stands in at just an inch shy of six feet, putting him a bit on the tall side as far as humans go. He is handsome and well-spoken, possessing a rough, adventurous charm. His body is fit but trim; he is in-shape, but not at the extreme, muscles-bulging-out-from-who-knows-where level of potency. His skin is bronzed, burnished like a metal from years of exposure to the sun and heat. Along his left side, below his ribcage lies an ugly, darker-than-his-normal-skin scar--a splattered mass that looks like someone threw a vial of acid at him, measuring in its entirety about a foot in diameter. Near the center of the scar a strange, rounded bauble is seared into his skin, halfway protruding. It’s about an inch wide. The gem is a ruby; it shines a blazing reddish-orange color, not like leaves in autumn, but like fire incarnate. It is ovular in shape.

His eyes are a deep, rich brown hue, like fertile soil. They observe everything; they take in warmth but also exude warmth of their own. His hair is also brown, pure brown, taking on the same coloration as tree bark. It falls past his shoulders, growing straight and true. He usually wears a short, well-trimmed beard, running from the left side of his face as sideburns, to his chin, and then up the other side. Brown stubble dots above his upper lip and his cheeks.

He wears no armor, possessing peasant clothes of earthen hues for the most part. A deep brown pair of slightly baggy breeches and an auburn tunic would be suitable apparel for Auld, with a pair of sturdy boots adorning his feet. He usually has a worn leather rucksack slung over one shoulder, containing a bedroll, a pot or two, candles, rope, clothes, some money, food, a waterskin, a knife, and a few other assorted objects that would be necessary when one wanders the roads and the wilderness. The only thing he really lacks are some sort of materials to start a fire, but as you’ll see, he really doesn’t lack those. Lashed diagonally across his pack is a sturdy oaken staff, an inch and a half thick.

«Personality»
Auld is your typical good-guy-who-wanders-the-roads. Stern in manner, he is not adverse to sharing his fire with a stranger in need, or going to the aid of a woman cornered by goblins. He possesses a strong wanderlust, not wanting to stay in one place for any length of time. Journeying the world, seeing what there is to be seen, that is his passion. His moral compass is entirely unyielding; one would be better off slaying Auld outright before trying to make him do something that directly contradicts what he believes in. And what does he believe in? Fighting the good fight, helping others, and preserving the lives of the innocent. He does not follow the edicts of any god in particular, or some binding code he has to subscribe to--he merely does so because it fulfills him. If he left someone in need stranded on the road he would feel horrible inside. He has no honor, per-se--he’d just as soon stab you in the back as the front. If you’re evil, his only objective is your death.

He works hard and plays hard; do not put off to tomorrow what one can do today. Necessity comes before pleasure. Deep within he is a dreamer, a stargazer, one who would want to go and change the world. But due to the terrible power he has been invested with, that is not possible. While he still remains optimistic, he has learned to keep his strongest hopes and dreams subdued within his subconscious, due to the unforeseeable consequences the Wishstone can create.

«Weaponry»
Auldren Neravé wields a few weapons. The most prevalent just by looking at him is his quarterstaff, made from the heartwood of an oak. It is four feet high, and one and a half inches thick. He uses it with a deadly abandon, not ever formally taught in the usage, yet experienced enough to have developed his own style of risky lunges and twirls.

The second, and the second weapon one would think he possessed, are his fists. Although not skilled at hand-to-hand combat, he has a natural ferocity and vigor, and if it comes to grappling or rolling over one another on the ground, Auld would more likely than not come out victorious. A boot in the face hurts just as much as a club, perhaps more, if the opportunity for a kick presents itself.

The last macabre utensil he utilizes is the Wishstone. The fiery reddish-orange ruby embedded into his left side, below his ribs. It uses fire and lava, both the creation and manipulation, to do not his bidding, but his wishes. It fulfills as best it can his hopes and his dreams; his aspirations.

«Magical Capabilities»
Auldren’s weapons carry no enchantments or magical properties, save for the Wishstone. The ruby contains within it the power of fire. It can manipulate and create fire, lava, heat, and the like at will, although as it does so it draws upon Auld’s strength. He can direct what the instrument of flames does, to a degree. The altered gem tries to fulfill his wishes and hopes and dreams, utilizing the power of fire to do so. For example, if he wishes for a glass of water, and a river was nearby, yet he was separated from it by dense bramble, the Wishstone could call forth a torrent of flames to clear him a path.

It can only see what he sees, although the conclusions it comes to are usually not on par with his moral standing. In fulfilling his wishes, the rock with the ability to harness fire shows a callous disregard for everything else. People that stand in his way will be smote. It shows no malice or kindness--it is merely a tool. Most of the time, however, the wishes it grants are more transcendent. Let’s say Auld dreamt of becoming a doctor, and yet the village doctor already had an apprentice.

If his hopes of becoming a doctor sprung to his mind while the doctor’s apprentice was around, the trainee would be immolated, perhaps. Other, more subversive tactics also are used. The Wishstone can see into Auld’s mind alone, not his heart, and so any subliminal things he may hope for will not affect the Wishstone’s capacity.

He can harness the powers, to a sense. In battle, he could wish that his enemy was dead, or that the enemy could not get to his weapon, which had been wrenched from his grasp. Of course, until it happens, he has no idea of exactly how his wishes will be carried out. The stone is quite erratic--sometimes the effect will be achieved in strange ways Auld would not have imagined.

«Fighting Style/ Class»
Molten Dreamer
Auld prefers to fight from afar, harnessing his Wishstone to rain death from a safe distance away. If the need presents itself he won’t hesitate to leap into the fray, wielding his quarterstaff with deadly abandon. He depends, in most cases, on the Wishstone, calling for it to protect him and slay his enemies. Vague wishes can sometimes produce undesirable effects, and so he has to stay focused, and mold his hopes strategically. He fights without style or flare, going for whatever gets the job done, and isn’t adverse to getting his hands dirty in the process.

«Physical/Magical Techniques»
Auldren is strong in the element of fire; he seems to have a strange, unnatural affinity for it, no doubt granted by his tainted Wishstone. Flames do not harm his bronzed skin, merely licking the surface without burning. While he does not absorb the fire, it does not harm him, and he never grows cold from lack of warmth. It is as if the Wishstone also provides his body with a constant influx of heat.

He is strong and agile, but untrained. His abilities and swiftness come not from training, but from natural talent. With time and help, he could grow into a master warrior, but for now he remains merely potentially good.

Auld is good with a bow, and can ride a horse, although the animals--and any animals, really--shy away from him. He seems to possess an otherworldly aura about him, like he is a mutant, or not quite human anymore.

«Physical Techniques»
Auld is strong and fast, because he was born blessed like that, but other than that he has no flashy techniques nor any skills with a lot of pizzazz.

«Magical Techniques»
Heated Hope
Auld can wish, or hope, or dream of something happening, and the Wishstone embedded in his chest will do its best to see that those aspirations become reality. The catch point is that the only element the tainted stone can harness is that of fire, limiting it quite a bit.

Fire Resistance
Auld is resistant to the element of fire, something imbued in him from the Wishstone.

«Background»
Auldren Neravé was born to a peasant man and woman who lived outside the castle walls of the towering citadel known as Venstar. To the north lay Mount Dantos, to the south and east the vast plains of Aze-thor, and to the west the Emerald Ocean. Venstar was the headquarters of the Knights of Gabrielle, an elite order of fighters renowned for the baubles that each and every one of their number carried: a Wishstone. A Wishstone was a diamond that had imbued within it the power to use healing magic to carry out its holder’s whims. He could, say, wish for someone to be healed, and they would be.

Auld grew up well, making friends easily. He never learned to read or write, mostly helping his father till their land and reap the crops they planted. His brother and sister both helped, too, while his sister also learned to cook and clean.

And then one day, when Auld was seventeen--disaster. Mount Dantos, the only mountain within miles of them, erupted into flame. Globs of molten rock were heaved downward whilst black smoke billowed above. The Knights’ citadel was hit hard, as were the surrounding settlements.

As the volcano erupted, Auld’s family hurriedly lashed their few belongings to their mule, and fled. A hailstorm of magma hit them hard; the mule vanished with but one scream of burning pain. His father and sister also were obliterated by chunks of liquid stone. As he stood, terrified by the cataclysm raging around him, his mother gasping in pain from the heated liquid that had seared her left arm right off, and his brother writhing in agony, his eyes bubbling and blistered, a man on horseback rode up to him.

The man was dressed in resplendent steel armor, and he reached into a pouch at his side and drew forth his Wishstone--he was a Knight of Venstar. He began striding over to Auld’s mother, his jaw set determined, when out of nowhere another splash of lava took the gem right from the knight’s hand.

Both the lava and the gem both collided with Auld’s left side, right below his ribcage, sizzling and sputtering. He felt an intense pain, and a sensation that felt something like flames raging through his bloodstream tore through him. He collapsed, unconscious.

When he awoke, everyone was dead. His brother had stopped moving; his mother was nowhere to be seen. The knight who’d tried to help his family lay, smote by yet another volcanic tear.

Auldren picked himself slowly up, thick ashes falling all around him, giving the ground the consistency of snow. He spent the next few hours looking for survivors, of which there were none. Finally, just plopping himself down amongst the ashes, he wept, and wished to die.

His entire body was suddenly immolated, and his clothes seared from his flesh. He, however, sat unharmed. Glancing downward, he saw himself looking upon a fresh, red splotch of burnt skin on his left side, a shimmering gem that shone like a bonfire implanted halfway into his flesh. And raising his hand to his face, he discovered that his skin had bronzed; he was beyond tan, he looked like he was made of metal.

Auld had picked himself up, gathered what supplied he could salvage from the ruined landscape, and set off. At first he hoped to find a place to settle down, and even tried to settle down, but the powers invested within his twisted Wishstone always came to play, making him out to be a sort of witch. He was most often reviled, or driven away from the places he went if he stayed there for any length of time. So he took to adventuring. A normal life would never be his, not since that fated day when the nameless knight had tried to help his parents, and perished in the attempt, and the sacred stone had been defiled and burned into his side.

Over the years he acquired many weapons, none lasting that long against the flames his altered Wishstone produced. His weapon at the moment is a quarterstaff, made from the wood of an oak.

That's it.

Name: Tache Adeali

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Race: Human/Chaotic

Appearance: Having attributes of looks from his mother, and build from his father, Tache is quite the all around character. He is of average build, being neither muscular nor scrawny. He weighs 180 pounds, standing at a meager 5'8" tall. He has dark blonde hair, which extends past his ears, curling up at the sides. It almost looks like he has wings on the side of his head. Completely embarrassed by this, Tache tried his best to hide it, but to no avail. He has begun to ignore the fact that his hair is ugly as sin, and pretend that it is not even there. He has light green eyes, set into his slightly rounded face. His nose is slopes down, rounded at the end. Below, his mouth is usually curled into a comical grin, revealing his shiny (and slightly crooked) teeth.

The typical armor worn by a Chaotic is nothing overzealous. A chain mail hauberk, over which a surcoat of cobalt blue is worn, showing the element of the Chaotic wearing it. Under this, a simple brown tunic and pants is worn, to protect the body from chafing. A robe is normally worn over the armor, to hide the Chaotic’s identity and project a heightened sense of intelligence.

Personality: Never good with people, Tache tries to distance himself from confrontation as much as possible. However, if someone is in need, he is indebted to providing aid against an evil force. He upholds the virtues of the Chaotic, favoring humility, largesse, and nobility over pride, intolerance, and malice.

In battle, he keeps a level head, not allowing himself to become blind with fury. He remains radiant and tranquil, instilling fear into the hearts of his enemies. He is never the first to attack. He prefers to tease people by evading and parrying, rather than outright attacking. Several of his opponents have surrendered, baffled by his lack of attacks, giving the effect that he is merely toying with them.

Weaponry: Blizzard Rune - The rune passed down through the generations of Juneau, it possesses immense magickal energy and significance to the Chaotic. It is embedded into a gauntlet Tache wears on his right hand, the magickal energy radiating through the cage of mesh.

Physical Techniques: N/A

Magical Techniques:

Solidity - Tache is able to channel thin streams of ice from his gauntlet-clad hand. Using this ability, he is able to root his enemies to the spot, rendering them unable to move their lower body. Easily evaded.

Minions of Azure - Sinking downward into a defensive state, Tache brings both of his arms in front of him in a guarding position. Relying heavily on his inner power, he focuses large amounts of energy in front of him, projecting it outward in a wall. The wall slowly takes form into a being, standing at four feet, six inches tall. Being completely made of ice, it can easily be shattered and/or melted, but it does pack a punch. Easily destroyed and slow to move.
From: CoalescedFate | Posted: 5/21/2004 7:51:52 PM | Message Detail
Miscellaneous Skills - Tache can use the power of his rune to do multiple things. Other than his two techniques, he can also manifest balls of ice and water, using them as orbs against enemies. The more advanced the technique, the more spiritual energy it takes. The more spiritual energy Tache loses, the less he is able to do magickal, physical, and mental wise.

Fighting Style: True

Class: Blizzard Chaos

Class/Race Origin:

The Beginning
The origins of the chaotic are skeptical at best. They began as a band of priests, led by an ecstatic revolutionary by the name of Cecil Arendum. Cecil had a vision for the world. He wished to bring the souls of humans closer to nature, to become one with the world, to better harness elemental energy. With the energy, he planned to create a machine, that of which would harness the powers of the world and unleash a catastrophic breakdown in the Earth’s core. With this, Cecil would be able to climb the ladder within the church, him being the only one knowing of how to reverse the occurrence.

The Assigning
Cecil had no idea how insane his plan was. He recruited several priests, who were promised a position when he ascended to leader of the Church, and began his research. After years of practicing meditation and learning of the properties of elemental magick, Cecil trained each of his leaders to follow a particular element.

His right hand man, Juneau, was the first. The procedure was long and drawn out. Cecil took his time, training Juneau until his elemental power was expressed. After three years, Cecil determined Juneau’s natural sense of magick to be greatest in the category of ice. Thus, Juneau was sent off on his own to develop his powers more, while Cecil trained the others.

The next was Omikron. After two years, his element was discovered as fire. He, too, was sent off on his own to develop and meditate.

Khan, Jacob, and Erik were to have light, earth, and air, respectively. They also left Cecil to train in solitude.

Cecil’s element was darkness.

A Chaotic Reunion
The six reunited fifteen years later, all of them as masters of their elemental magick. Juneau had expanded his horizons to contain both ice and water magick. Jacob expanded from earth to containing the two magicks of nature and rock. Erik possessed wind and lightning.

Cecil, Khan, and Omikron remained with their original elements, but their powers were significantly greater than their comrades were. Despite these differences, the six were still close. Cecil’s plot was finally coming together. He just needed to perform a binding.

Ideas Gone Awry
The weakest of the six, Jacob, was the first to experience the binding to the elements. Following an arcane book of magick, Cecil performed the procedure.

Calling upon the sages and saints of old, he manifested a dismal-looking portal. Jacob was meant to enter of his own free will, to ensure the binding was sacred.

Overcome with fear, Jacob refused to continue on with the procedure. Angered by this, Cecil summoned his strength and hurled Jacob into the vortex, with the aid of Omikron and Khan. As Jacob’s body hit the outer energy barrier, an explosion of tremendous proportions ripped his form to shreds, unleashing a chain reaction of explosions, decimating the area and hurling Cecil and the remaining four across the chamber.

The Runes
The vortex closed, throwing the mess of blood that was once Jacob in a heap upon the granite. On top of the pile sat five stones, stained crimson with blood.

Each of the stones, or runes, reacted to a particular person. One, which shined a bright cobalt, reacted with bursts of electricity when it touched Juneau’s hands, while it lay dormant in the others’ clutches.
From: CoalescedFate | Posted: 5/21/2004 7:53:12 PM | Message Detail
The vermilion stone reacted in the same way when Omikron came in contact with it. The alabaster stone went to Khan, the obsidian stone to Cecil, and the goldenrod stone to Erik.

Each was given a name and was used to increase the powers of their holders.

Juneau.. The Blizzard Rune..

Omikron.. The Volcanic Rune..

Erik.. The Typhoon Rune..

Khan.. The Radiant Rune..

Cecil.. The Beast Rune..

The Corruption of Souls
Realizing that no one else would volunteer after seeing Jacob torn to pieces, Cecil needed to find a new way to carry out his sinister plot. He formed a new triumvirate with Omikron and Khan, sending Juneau and Erik out to find new recruits. He planned to form an army, with which he would trick into entering the vortex.

Cecil became volatile, cruel, and loathing. He withdrew from the others, keeping to himself while they busied themselves with gaining power and followers for their cause.

A Destiny Unfolded
The five soon had a flourishing community. Juneau, Erik, and Khan all gained wives, who they trained in their particular magick form. Cecil continued to grow farther and farther apart from the others, now only keeping in contact with Omikron. Every month, recruits would be called to Cecil’s chambers, where they would be trained for the upcoming revolution. Most of them were failures and were killed. Several others worked perfectly. They were set aside.

There was one who stood out above all. A man who called himself Orion. Trained by Juneau, he was one of the most adept recruits out of all. He was granted entry into the Sanctum, which was a division below the original five. Only three others, Kurtis, who was trained by Erik, Kyno, who was trained by Omikron, and Samuel, who was trained by Khan, made it into this elite group.

Insanity
Seven years after the first catastrophe and Jacob’s death, Cecil decided it was time to try again. Seventeen people, including Samuel, volunteered.

The results were the same, other than the fact that no stones were produced. Samuel entered finally and had this had the most apocalyptic reaction. Instead of closing, the vortex grew, engulfing the chamber it was opened in. Several thousand recruits, along with Khan, were pulled into the vortex and destroyed. The situation looked hopeless.

Cecil was enraged. Everything he had worked for; destroyed in minutes. He sank into his brood, his personality becoming dank. A festering smell engulfed his living quarters. People began to fear going near him. He had become an intensely chaotic being.

His howls of rage filled the chambers every night for years. Soon, they died away. No one dare visit Cecil, except for Omikron.

One dark day, in the middle of a thunderstorm, Cecil and Omikron left the building. They said nothing. The foul aroma of death followed them through the doors and vanished in the distance.

A New Beginning
Erik and Juneau, being the only two left, formed a new alliance with Kurtis and Kyno. The four disbanded their army and practiced their magick in secret. They grew old, had children, then passed on to the next life, leaving their runes in the care of their oldest children. The cycle continued and the generations passed.

Description of Class: The Chaotic is merely a mage, trained thoroughly in elemental magick. There are only two types of Chaotic that are known to roam the land, the Blizzard Chaos and the Typhoon Chaos. The oldest son of the previous Chaotic inherits the rune pertaining to their element. If a Chaotic is dying and does not have a child, he chooses a child from another family to take his place. The child must be chosen early, if to be trained correctly.
From: CoalescedFate | Posted: 5/21/2004 7:53:45 PM | Message Detail
The Chaotic does not allow females to become champions. The females were trained in elemental magick, but they were not allowed to possess a rune. The reason for it lay undisclosed, established in the early times of the original band.

At one single time, there are only two Chaotic champions, the Blizzard Chaos and the Typhoon Chaos. None may gain the title until it is passed down to them.

The other two Chaotic, the Onyx Chaos and the Magma Chaos, have never been seen and are not expected to roam the land. If the two “dark” Chaotic were alive and roaming, the world would be doomed. The intent of the “dark” Chaotic, the followers of Omikron and Cecil, is to discover the path to binding, which was Cecil’s original plan. Since the times of Cecil and Omikron’s disappearance, the followers of Juneau and Erik have dedicated themselves to prohibiting another catastrophe.

History: A direct descendant of Juneau, Tache’s arcane abilities were stronger than his ancestors. He trained heavily, his energy growing immensely. By the time he was eighteen, he was outperforming the current Blizzard Chaos in terms of cunning, strength, and magickal dexterity. It was as if Juneau had reincarnated.

Since his powers were so great, he was given the Blizzard Rune on the eve of his twentieth birth year. With this, he received a second rune. The essence of Khan, the Radiant Rune, thought to have been lost forever.

Leaving the temple of his kin shortly after his master passed away, he ventured into the world to further develop his powers. Leaving the Typhoon Chaos behind, he vanished into the world of catastrophe and sorrow, armed with a gauntlet, the Blizzard Rune, and the dormant Radiant Rune.

A Chaotic Escapade
He traveled slowly, making his way across the land. He visited obscure villages, noble cities, cozy farms, and monolithic temples. He was intrigued by how beautiful the world was beyond his home.

It was years before he felt the darkness. Having been on the road for five years, he had been happy. Luck had blessed his travels, nothing overly horrible happening to him. There was the occasional tavern brawl, the outlaw who wanted a quick kill, and the several times he had to step in and take out a fiend that preyed on the meek.

He sat in a tavern, in the a desolate town near the ocean. The stench was faint at first, but it soon grew in his nostrils. The festering smell became unbearable as a man, cloaked in brown, a hood covering his face, entered the room. He sat several seats down the bar from Tache, the man’s head tilted in Tache’s general direction.

Tache slowly pulled his gauntlet-clad hand from the table, burying it in the folds of his robes. The man turned his head, the stench slowly filling the rest of the tavern. Several men and women got up from their seats, hurriedly leaving the room, disturbed by the smell.

The man continued to sit, his cloak billowing around him from the gusts of wind through the windows. He placed both hands upon the table, a sharp clank echoing as from under the folds of cloth. He snickered, pulling up the edge of his cloak a bit, revealing the end of a gauntlet, a tad of crimson staining the end.

Tache pushed himself up from the stool, turning and exiting the tavern, the smell fading from his nostrils. Relieved to be free of the nauseating odor, he walked west, heading toward the nearest exit. The sense of evil and foreboding stuck in his mind, his nausea increasing. There was an aura about the man, a distinct feeling that he was the embodiment of all evil. A being that left death, decay, and destruction in its wake.

He left the town, heading west towards Kotir, knowing he would encounter the being in the future.

Finis.

I realize a few things in there may sound cliché, but I created this character four years ago. He’s old, but he’s still reliable.

(ooc: Just finished revising it. I got rid of the idea of him being a lightning mage and instead gave him the ability to generate lightning using his body, very much similar to what electric eels do. I also tried fixing the weapon hilt problem, only have close range lightning techniques, no longer a speed freak, and I tried toning down my Wrath technique (Got rid of the high speed after image effect and decreased the number of hits.). Hopefully this is good enough.)

Name: Ruen (Ru-en) Elmdor

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance: Ruen is a young man that stands at six feet flat, and weighs one hundred seventy-two pounds. He has mid long, dark brown hair, his bangs almost covers his eyes, as well as his dark blue bandana around his head. His eyes are also brown in color, and give Ruen a calm, serious look on his face, but later changes to a very cold-hearted stare when he is confronted with enemies. Just like most wanderers, he has slightly tanned skin and his body structure is athletic, which explains his amazing skills on the battlefield. As far as clothing is concerned, he doesn’t like wearing anything heavy for it slows him down and he’s not comfortable when wearing the stuff. He wears an unbuttoned, long-sleeve, dark blue coat, the length of which extends two inches below his knees and, although it looks thick, is made of some kind of light cloth material that doesn’t hinder Ruen’s movement. He also wears black sleeveless shirt inside the coat and is tucked in his white pants that are a little tight. His gloves are made of dark brown leather and has a small steel plate bolted on the top side of the gloves. These steel plates are used to amplify Ruen’s lightning magic, a power which he has possessed for as long as he could remember. His boots are also made out of the same dark brown leather used to make the gloves and are very sturdy so it doesn’t wear out easily and gives Ruen good maneuverability. He wears a silver necklace with a silver object, a crest a winged serpent curled around a sword, attached to it. This necklace is the only thing that links him to his past.

Personality: Ruen isn’t very sociable but that’s only because he’s been isolated from the world for several years. He’s usually acts cool, calm and serious, often keeps to himself and he doesn’t trust anyone easily, which makes him a skeptical person. He also has a tendency to be very cold at times, especially to those he dislikes or if he’s not in a good mood, which is actually hard to tell if he’s in a good mood because he rarely smiles and usually keeps a serious look on his face. But all these are just a mere shell shielding his true nature. Ruen is actually a kind person and can also be compassionate at times. He contains a good sense of justice within him and would help those who truly need it. He tries to avoid unnecessary battles especially against women (but will if he has no other choice). Also, if you are able to gain his trust, Ruen can be a good and loyal friend and follower. At times, he could be very persistent, especially when caught in a tough situation or battle.

Weaponry: Fangs of the Lightning Serpent

The Fangs of the Lightning Serpent a lightning attributed twin short sword that can enhance the lightning magic of Ruen. At first, it looks like a single short sword. The blade is two feet, eight inches long, two and a half inches wide, very sharp and emits a faint, bluish glow. It is straight and double-edged like a typical sword but there is a gap, half an inch in width, in the center of the blade separating one half of the edge from the other. The gap in the center could be used in disarming or even breaking an opponent’s weapon. The hilt is ten inches in length and is mainly dark blue in color. The two hilts of the two short swords are “hooked” together at the top center of the hilt and the end of the hilts to keep the swords from separating. The swords overall weight is six pounds making the sword light and easy to wield. Although it looks like a “normal” sword, it could be separated into two forming two single-edged swords, the blades one inch in width, same length and the swords are half its original weight making both swords quick and easy to handle.

Fighting Style and Class: Swordsman of Lightning

When Ruen was still learning to control his ability to generate electricity using his body, an ability a little similar to what electric eels do and a skill Ruen possessed for as long as he could remember, he frequently trained with his swords, slowly becoming proficient both single and two sword fighting. Because of this, he’s already become used to switching between the two styles and, when combined with Ruen’s great skills, makes him a deadly adversary. At first, he tries enjoying the battle and quickly analyzes his opponent’s skills and looks for any openings or flaws that he makes. Once he’s gotten to know the enemy a bit, he goes on the offensive and tries taking the enemy down. When needed, he unleashes his lightning techniques to weaken his enemy, then finishes them off as quickly as possible. While doing all this, he tries to avoid showing any signs of weakness and avoids giving the enemy an opening for an attack. Ruen’s not only proficient with his swords, but also practiced in unarmed combat, and, when combined with his lightning techniques, can either leave you temporarily stunned or unconscious. As for his ability to generate lightning with his body, he hasn’t unlocked his full potential yet. Although he could his ability without a problem, the true power in him still lies hidden deep within.

Physical/Magical Techniques:

Unarmed Techs:

Lightning Grasp-Ruen focuses most of his lightning energy in one hand. Then he quickly charges at his opponent, while dodging some of the enemy’s attacks. When he is close enough to the enemy, he grasps the opponent’s neck, arm, head or any part open, and unleashes an electric shock. Although the shock isn’t really damaging, it can render temporary paralysis onto his foe or could even render him unconscious if he’s weak.

Lightning Crash-Ruen stands in place and focuses his energy into his hands. He then rushes toward the target, and when he’s close enough to the target, positions his arms forward and unleashes a powerful, close range lightning blast into the opponents chest. If successful, the enemy if knock several feet away from Ruen due to the force released by the move. This technique is usually used to knock enemies away, giving Ruen a good distance from them.
From: Dark Kaiser Wahrheit | Posted: 5/21/2004 10:36:43 PM | Message Detail
Sword Techs:

Lightning Hammer- Ruen focuses his energy into his sword, charges at his enemy and releases a one-hit, diagonal slash, releasing his lightning energy and leaving a cut from near the left shoulder area down to the right side of the targets stomach. This move can be revised into a Twin Lightning Hammer, wherein he uses his twin short swords instead, and leaves an X-mark on the opponent’s chest.

Lightning Flash-Ruen grasps his sword with both hands; the sword positioned directly in front of him, and starts to focus his lightning energy into his sword. He then dashes at his opponent at great speed, attempts to slash the targets chest. This is actually used only used to break the opponent’s defense. He then twists around, separating his sword into two, and two horizontal slashes, swords are parallel with one another, and slashes both the stomach and chest, follows up with a kick on the chin, which knocks the enemy back a bit, then combines both swords and does a diagonal slash from he top-left part of the targets body (near the left shoulder) down to the bottom right part of his stomach. As soon as he does his last hit, a lightning bolt strikes the enemy from above, doing minor but still effective damage.

Wrath of Lightning-Ruen’s other last resort/desperation attack. Ruen focuses his most or even all of his energy into his short sword. He then dashes towards his opponent dishes out several slashes (7 to be exact but some or even most of the attacks could be blocked depending on the target’s condition.), while switching from single to double sword styles, at random areas on the targets body (it’s up to you where you’ll be hit.). He then flips in the air and, when he’s somewhat behind the opponent, unleashes a powerful downward slash onto the target’s back, releasing all the lightning energy stored in the blade, leaving a deep wound and is capable of temporarily stunning the target and also has a possibility of rendering him unconscious as well. Because he uses up almost all his energy, Ruen becomes seriously weakened and, if taken too much damage, will probably become unconscious.

Bio/Back Story: At the age of 12, Ruen has been suffering from amnesia due to a fall from a cliff and survived by falling into the river below. When he finally came to, he found himself in a small cottage owned by an old hermit named Mazus. The man asked him what happened but Ruen could only remember some of the events that happened before he fell. Ruen later finds out that the old man was actually a sorcerer that fought in a war that took place years ago, but later decided to live a life of isolation in the wood near a peaceful town. Days passed by, and Mazus continued to watch over Ruen until he was recovered completely. Ruen wanted to repay the old man and, seeing that he had no where to go, decided to stay with him and help him out. One day, when Ruen was exploring the woods, he was attacked by several monsters. Ruen tried fighting them with the sword he’s been carrying with him since the fall, but he was too inexperienced and was easily defeated. Just when he thought he was finished, the hidden power stored within him was awakened, and he killed most of the monsters, the rest ran away like cowards. Mazus was actually nearby when this happened and was surprised at what he saw. He sensed greater power hidden deep within Ruen, but such power would be hard to control without the proper training. Mazus then decided to train him so that such power could be used properly.

Seven years have past since that day, and Ruen was slowly mastering his ability to generate lightning, as well as becoming more proficient with his sword skills. Weeks passed by and the two lived good and peaceful lives. But all that would soon come to an end. During one of their training sessions in the woods, Mazus suddenly became very weak and collapsed on the floor. Ruen then quickly rushed to aid his master. Ruen picked up the body of his master and quickly brought him back to the cottage. After a few hours of rest, Mazus slowly regained consciousness but was felling a little ill. Ruen remembered several similar instances, and so he started to worry about his master’s condition. Seeing that he could no longer hide the truth from Ruen, Mazus decided to tell Ruen the reason why he’s been feeling sick. Apparently, Mazus has been suffering from a heart disease for several years now, even before he met Ruen. Although he was able to fight it most of the time, the disease became more powerful the older he became. Ruen was surprised when he heard this but became even more shocked when he found out there was no cure for the sickness. Many days have passed and his master’s condition became worse each day. Ruen couldn’t stand seeing his master suffer, but there was nothing he could do to stop it. Then, the day finally came when his master would breathe his last breath. Seeing that his master no longer lives, Ruen carries the lifeless body and buries his master’s body near the cottage. Although, he was sad, he tries to hold his emotions back.

It has been a year since that day, and Ruen still continued to live alone in the cottage. Also, he started becoming a little cold hearted and at times showed no emotion at all. Sometimes, he had dreams about what seems to be a part of his past, but he didn’t really mind them. He didn’t really care about who he was in the past, and he knew that his memories would return eventually. More days passed by, and Ruen got sick of just staying there and doing nothing. He then decides to set off on an adventure to hone his skills and see the world. After several weeks of traveling, he finds himself in the city of Kotir. He hears a lot about the reestablished organization known as the Intrepid Genesis and their leaders. With a strong interest in the organization, Ruen decides to join the Intrepid Genesis.

Name: Pherous Dedoson (Day-doh-sahn)

Age: 23

Race: Human

Weapon: A one-handed, or two-handed, 4 ½ foot sword that curves like a scimitar in the last eight inches of the blade. It is a thin weapon at only about an inch wide and weighing about 6 pounds. Named Sky for its light, blue shine, Sky can act as an extension of Pherous’ magical abilities. When Pherous focuses his magic in the blade, ancient runes are visible in light blue along the blade.

Class: Battle mage

Fighting Style: Pherous usually fights only with his sword, either as the cold piece of metal it is, or imbued with lightning. When fighting with Sky without magic, Pherous usually uses a style of fighting that allows him to find the weak points in armor and use it to make vital hits on the opponent with quick movements. However, when Sky has been combined with Pherous’ magic, the style used to fight is changed all together. When this is done, Pherous takes more thought into his actions, often searching for hits that allow Sky to transfer its electrical energies to the opponent’s body directly.

Physical Description: Standing about 6’3’, Pherous has a fairly muscular frame at around 260 pounds. Pherous has shoulder length, snow white hair. His eyes are a dark blue that is said when you look deep into them, they crackle with lightning. His armor is basic, but his own at the same time. Pherous wears a light leather surcoat over his basic clothes of a black shirt and matching pants. He wears a breast plate of copper with a large silver Celtic cross engraved into the chest. A single pauldron comes off from the breast plate on the left arm, as well as only one gauntlet (left) that has been modified so that there is a small circular shield that has been attached for light blocking abilities. Pherous’ right arm is only protected by the long sleeve of the leather surcoat. His lower half of his body is what is somewhat strange about Pherous, instead of greaves like many people would wear; he wears a copper scale skirt with silver studs in each scale that reaches down to about his ankles. This interesting piece of armor was made for him specifically and adds even more to his mobility while still being a great piece of armor. The armor is finished with a pair of hardened leather boots.

Magical abilities: For as long as he has know, Pherous has been fascinated with the power of lighting, and eventually found out he had a magical gift of one of the most feared forces in nature. Pherous often focuses his magic through Sky, making a formidable weapon with which to match almost any threat.

Personality : Only a few words can really describe the personality that most people see in Pherous, sarcastic and a showoff. It is true that many that Pherous makes many comments to what people say, and that he doesn’t pass up the opportunity to show off to a young lady, but not everybody knows the true Pherous. Inside Pherous is lonely and saddened from events in his life. He only tries to make up with it by being the sarcastic Pherous most people know, and some seem to love.

Abilities:

Shoulder charge-
Again, something basic that Pherous has made his own. Pherous runs at the enemy lowering his left shoulder for a hit to the chest, but to spice it up, Pherous usually puts a small bolt of lightning into it for a good shock. This ability is usually followed by the Back Lash.

Back Lash-
This ability lets Pherous take a few extra swings at his opponent. Usually following the Shoulder Charge, Pherous turns his back for a brief moment to his enemy, and then begins to spin left and right simultaneously, slashing with Sky. While usually an easy attack to block, the Shoulder Charge leaves the defender in pain, plus somewhat stunned.

Bolt Slash-
Focusing through Sky, Pherous uses his blade for an extension of his lightning, bolts of blue run up the blade before Pherous swings from a distance. Sky leaves behind a large trail of lightning that speeds off horizontally towards the enemy.

Storm Blade-
Another focusing attack, lightning courses up and down his arms, and down to his blade. It is a strength increase, and the slightest scratch from Sky can result in a huge amount of electricity released into the other’s body.

Bolt Strike- This is a fairly useful attack. Channeling his magic through Sky, Pherous can have a single bolt of lightning strike out form the tip of Sky at his opponent.

Bio: Pherous was born and raised in a small country called Novazcon. The country, though small, was beautiful and well populated. Living in the capital city of Brastire, Pherous was raised rich. His mother, Kristine, was the head mage for the king and her power was unrivaled throughout the kingdom. She had showed great interest in ancient runes and often used them in her spell castings.

Pherous’ father, Jacques, was also closely related to the kings, being the master smith to the Royal Palace. Pherous’ father often made and repaired the armor and weapons of the royal guard, as well as the king himself. Pherous loved to work on the smithy with his father, choosing it over his studies with his mother. Training with the Captain of Guard, Pherous came to love the blade style of the scimitar. At about the age of fourteen, Pherous showed promise for the magic abilities relating to lightning. It had been later than most young mages found their abilities and Kristine had finally had new pride for her son.

Eventually growing restless of the easy life at about seventeen, Pherous told his parents that he wanted to adventure and find a great time in the process. Trying to persuade Pherous that his life was here in the king’s court, both of Pherous’ parents wanted him to stay in Brastire and choose from the life of either a Royal Guard, or one of the mages under Kristine’s eyes. Pherous decided against both and stood firm with his decision to become an adventurer. Knowing that they would no longer be able to change his mind, Pherous’ parents at least gave him a farewell present. With Jacques’ smithing abilities, as well as Kristine’s knowledge of ancient runes, Pherous’ parent gave him a blade worthy of his talents, Sky.

Sky had been made from a material that little was know about, they had called it Kyanstine. The only thing that was known about it was that it was easy to smith from its crude form, but afterwards it became hard to damage, it allowed for no mistakes when it was forged. Aside from that, it always kept its edge. After the Kyanstine had been made into the shape needed for Pherous’ blade, it was sent to Kristine’s study to have runes cast onto its blade. This allowed it to help Pherous’ new found ability for lightning magic.

Accepting the gift, Pherous left his easy life for the challenge to make a name for himself. He traveled around doing odd jobs for almost five years. Most of it had been spent in a protection faction, a guild that was made to have people hire them for bodyguards and any other security that required some muscle. Pherous got a lot of experience from this guild. Pherous left the guild shortly after he turned twenty-two, and went out again with new wisdom. Traveling for another year, Pherous stumbled upon a city that was lead by warriors, many called it Kotir. Interested in the possibility of a good pay, Pherous signed up for a soldier’s position. Pherous had not known what he had stumbled upon at the time, but later found that he had become part of a legend revived.

CoalescedFate, I've read your sign-up, with a bit of satisfaction I might add...You didn't get too descriptive with your sign-up, but even so you still served the purpose in describing your character very well. When it came down to describing your backstory, however, it seemed you put your time and effort into describing what your character is, how he came to be, and how he managed to come into contact with the Intrepid Genesis, which of course are very important.

For sounding "cliché" (as you say) and being well over 4 years old, Tache very much can still "hold his ground"...reliable, you say. I'd have to agree. I just apologize I couldn't get to you any sooner... >.>;;;
